SOAR Full Training

SOAR: SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery for people experiencing homelessness and mental illness

Training in using the SOAR process to effectively put together a complete Social Security disability benefits application for individuals experiencing homelessness and mental illness.

Who should attend: Case managers/advocates who will assist individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the entire disability application process.

Expectations of Full SOAR Training participants:

1. Complete at least 4 SSI/SSDI applications using the SOAR model during the year following the training.

2. Track application outcomes and report to your State Team Lead.

3. Consult with your trainer, State Team Lead, and/or SOAR Technical Assistance Center as needed.

SOAR trainings are coordinated by Minnesota Department Human Services and MESH. Metro SOAR trainings are offered at $30.00, and out-state trainings are $10.00. Need based scholarships are also available.
